hang loose

Went to get away from the city and get lost in nature? In tranquil? Get a taste of the rustic lifestyle lead by the locals of Coorg? Then this is one place you can’t afford to miss out on! About 30kms from Madikeri, in the midst of tons of coffee and pepper lies “Deep Woodz”.
After driving through a maze of green we finally arrived at our destination, fortuitous enough to have stumbled upon this place. Such marvel!
As we booked online, we were given a room in a wooden lodge with a sit out which opened out to the beautiful coffee and pepper plantations and let in a spicy whiff of the lush outside along with the essence of burnt wood from the water boiler next to our room. It was spacious, clean and well maintained.
What more? Add to this stunning setting, we were served three scrumptious meals a day. And mind you, not a single dish was repeated. That big a variety! If you haven’t heard already, Coorg is quite well known for its local cuisine. And without a doubt we got to taste every bite of it! Truly!
My two favorites and recommendations would be the “pork pandi curry” and another lavishly flavored mutton curry, the name of which I forgot! To go along with the meals we were served a set of homemade pickles. Do pack some for your home! Not to forget these people have an assortment of homemade specialties ranging from wines to pickles to spices and of course coffee. The famous South Indian filter coffee or “haat kaapi” as they call it is to die for!
The people at Deep Woodz are as beautiful as the place is. They were extremely welcoming and hospitable, didn’t give us a chance to complain about a single thing in our three day stay.
So this is pretty much one of the best places to unwind and I'm certain that you will be so mesmerized by the beauty, you might just forget to capture it!

Just back from an extremely tranquil and fulfilling experience at Deep Woodz Homestay. We were three writers longing for a quiet few days away from the city to be able to devote time to something each of us has been working on.
The setting at Deep Woodz was absolutely perfect! The place is pampered by Mother Nature; trees and plants in full bloom - a riot of colours! Picturesque roads you can explore amidst the coffee plantations... A place of immense scenic beauty.
The living space too is immaculately kept! Spacious, naturally lit and cross ventilated rooms that accentuate the experience of living in such a serene environment.
The food - vegetarian as well as non-vegetarian - was simply out of the world! Super-delicious! Excellent attention to detail and an efficient staff made our stay a very memorable one!

A very beautiful homestay amidst coffee plantation, hosted by warm people. They have spacious rooms, clean linens and bathrooms.
I would somehow rate the food just above average [just a personal opinion as everybody's sense of taste differs].
Mr. Hari and his wife - the owner and the staff were helpful.
They also sell homemade wines, coffee liqueur, brandy in different flavor, do try them, I am sure it will not disappoint.
Its peaceful getaway deep inside the nature where one should do nothing but enjoy the beauty. I will definitely comeback.

Awesome homestay, delicious meals, neat and clean rooms, sit out areas to chill on both sides. We were not able to go out for sightseeing due to floods, but this home stay made us felt like we are doing nature's sight seeing as it's really deep inside coffee plantations.
Owner was very co-operative and kind as well.
